UHF Connectors

UHF connectors (Ultra High Frequency) connectors were invented in the 1930s when the 300MHz frequency was considered high frequency. Nowadays 300 MHz would be thought as low frequency. UHF connectors were designed as a video connector for radar and military applications. The UHF connector has a 5/8 inch 24tpi UNEF thread. What does it do?The UHF connector is a large, low-cost connector primarily used in low frequency non-demanding radio and UHF applications. UHF connectors are simple to terminate, with a screw thread and solder contact they require no specialist tooling. Solder are the most popular although crimp versions are available. UHF connectors have a variable impedance.Uses: Low frequency applications Antennas Military CB (Citizens Band) / UHF 447 MHz Amateur radio Marine VHF radioTypesUHF connectors are sometimes quoted as PL259 (Male UHF) or SO239 (Female UHF) are references to their original military part numbers.
