Water Spray Guns

Water spray guns, also known as water sprayers, are trigger-operated tools that connect to a hose pipe to control and direct water flow. From light garden watering to high-pressure washdown, they give you the control to match output to the task at hand.

RS New Zealand stocks a comprehensive range of water spray guns to suit a variety of pressure requirements and applications. The range includes standard trigger spray guns, high-pressure industrial water spray guns, mist and atomiser spray guns, and adjustable nozzle guns, with pressure ratings spanning from 6 bar to 25 bar for both everyday and demanding use across residential and industrial settings.

How Water Spray Guns Work

A water spray gun connects to a hose system via a threaded fitting, typically BSP, and uses a trigger mechanism to control the release of water. Adjusting the nozzle changes the spray pattern and output:

• Nozzle Adjustment: This feature allows you to rotate or slide to switch between patterns such as a focused jet, wide fan, or fine mist, letting you match water delivery to the task
• Pressure Rating: Measured in bar or psi, this determines flow strength at the nozzle. Higher-pressure water spray guns deliver a more forceful output suited to washdown and industrial cleaning, while lower-pressure settings are better for delicate or close-range applications
• Hose Connection: Connection via BSP threads ensures a secure, leak-free fit between the gun and your existing hose system

Types of Water Spray Guns

Water spray guns are available in several configurations, including:

• Standard Trigger Spray Guns: These are general-purpose water sprayers that use a trigger mechanism to control water flow, making them suitable for everyday tasks such as garden watering, light washdown, and general hose applications.
• High-Pressure Industrial Water Spray Guns: Designed to handle higher bar ratings, industrial water spray guns deliver a more forceful flow for demanding washdown, equipment cleaning, and heavy-duty applications where standard pressure is insufficient.
• Mist and Atomiser Spray Guns: These water atomiser guns break water into fine droplets or a mist, making them well-suited to dust suppression, cooling, and humidity control in industrial or agricultural environments.
• Adjustable Nozzle Spray Guns: These water jet guns allow the user to switch between spray patterns, from a focused stream to a wide fan, without changing attachments, offering versatility across multiple tasks.

Features and Benefits of Water Spray Guns

Hose spray gun designs incorporate practical engineering features that enhance fluid control, operational safety, and user comfort across diverse tasks. Key benefits include:

• Adjustable Spray Patterns: Variable nozzle settings allow users to seamlessly switch between a concentrated jet for stubborn dirt and a broad fan or mist, optimising water efficiency for every task.
• Ergonomic Trigger Design: Contoured handles with low-pull force or lockable trigger mechanisms minimise grip strain and hand fatigue during long washdown or watering sessions.
• Durable Nozzle Materials: Quality construction utilising brass, stainless steel, or impact-resistant polymers ensures superior resistance to mechanical wear, corrosion, and harsh chemical exposure.
• Pressure Control: Integrated flow regulators enable precise output adjustment, protecting sensitive surfaces from damage while delivering maximum cleaning power when required.

How to Choose the Right Water Spray Gun

Selecting the ideal water spray gun requires matching technical specifications to your specific operational environment:

• Intended Use: Determine whether your application involves general garden irrigation or heavy-duty industrial washdown, as high-pressure water gun options suit harsher, more demanding environments.
• Pressure Rating: Verify that the operating bar or psi rating matches your pump and supply capabilities, ensuring the equipment functions efficiently without causing system pressure drops.
• Hose Fitting Compatibility: Confirm connection thread sizes and standards, such as BSP threads, to guarantee a secure, leak-free attachment to your existing hose assemblies.
• Nozzle Adjustability: Evaluate whether your tasks require a fixed stream output or variable spray patterns to safely transition between delicate surface rinsing and high-impact cleaning.

Applications of Water Spray Guns

Water spray guns serve a wide spectrum of functions across residential, commercial, and agricultural sectors:

• Gardening and Irrigation: A versatile water hose gun allows users to switch between delicate misting for seedlings and direct irrigation for turf and garden beds.
• Industrial Cleaning and Washdown: Utilising an industrial water spray gun accelerates the removal of grease, chemical residues, and stubborn buildup from processing floors, machinery, and equipment.
• Vehicle and Fleet Maintenance: Attachments on a high-pressure water sprayer strip away road salt, caked mud, and oil deposits from commercial trucks, tractors, and heavy machinery.
• Agricultural Operations: Specialised misting and spraying units facilitate livestock housing sanitation, crop protection, and greenhouse humidity control.
