What is an axial fan used for?

An axial fan is used for both cooling and ventilation purposes. The impellers or blades rotate around a parallel axis and force air to move in an axial position, so both in and out. As an example, on a desktop PC, the axial fan would be mounted directly to the motherboard and blow air directly at the processing unit.
