Raspberry Pi Compute Module (CM1)

What is a Compute Module?
The Compute Module (CM1) is similar to the traditional Raspberry Pi boards, in that it houses the same core. It features the Broadcom BCM2835 SoC which is also available on the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B and Raspberry Pi 1 Model B+. The CM1 also feature a 4GB eMMC Flash which is comparable to the SD card available on other Raspberry Pi boards.
The idea behind the Compute Module is that it is smaller and can be integrated into designs. This SODIMM module comes in a much more flexible form to be embedded into systems and other products.

How does it connect?
The CM1 Compute Module enables you to customise the connectors to your own specific requirements. The compact board measures just 67.6x30 mm (compared to the 85x56mm standard boards) and it fits onto a standard DDR2 SODIMM connector. The Compute Module offers compatibility with many GPIOs and interfaces through a 200-pin connector edge.
The CM1 is suitable for those who plan to create their own printed circuit board (PCB). However the CM1 I/O Board (136-3741) is also an ideal adapter to interface to get your CM1 Module set up.

Is the CM1 for me?
If you’re looking for something with a small form factor which you are able to customise to suit your designs, then the CM1 is an ideal tool.
The Compute Modules are intended for more advanced users and will require more input to create your project. If you are looking for something a little simpler, you might be best to look at one of the traditional Raspberry Pi boards, for example the Raspberry Pi 3 B+ (137-3331).

The Raspberry Pi Video Modules are ideal for adding video and image functionality to your board. The Raspberry Pi Camera V2 (913-2664) enables HD video and still photographs. The Raspberry Pi PiNoir Camera V2 (913-2673) provides the same functionality but without and IR filter. The Raspberry Pi Touchscreen (899-7466) is a 7in LCD touch screen module featuring capacitive touch.
Both camera modules and the display can be added to the CM1 board with the help of the CM1 Adaptors (136-3742).
