ESR5 Safety Relays

The ESR5 safety relay from Eaton is designed to monitor the signals from safety devices at all times and switch off quickly and reliably in an emergency. Suitable for applications that meet the highest safety requirements in accordance with EN 954-1, EN ISO 13849-1 up to PL e and accordance with IEC 62061 up to SILCL 3.

All in one – Safety and control relay combined in a single device

The Eaton ESR5 safety relay, with built in dual channel (2 Safety contacts) offers you versatile analysis of potential hazards in your machine moving environment. The ESR5 will monitor your safety devices such as emergency stops buttons, safety guards, light curtains or two handed controls. In the event there is a failure or hazard detected, the ESR5 will work quickly to switch off the power to the machine.

What are some of the features?

• The particular model offers you one or two channel variants so you can implement your safety appliances.
• Internal logic of the safety relay will monitor your entire safety circuit and all connect peripherals such as (emergency stop buttons, safety doors or light curtains) and will run the path for you when in a fault-free state.
• In the event of a fault, the safety relay will quickly engage its primary function in cutting off power to the affected area/s.
• A secure logic unit in the device is used to monitor the position of movable safety devices and is detected through the use of position switches or non-contact sensors giving you the added benefit of providing risk assessments with the aim to reduce the degree of risk.
• Machinery that must have both of the operator’s hands located outside the hazardous area is assessed by the ESR5 by monitoring the timing sequence, which can be used in these two handed control situations, which in turn conforms to safety requirements of category IIIC to EN 574.
