Door stops (also known as a door stopper or door wedge) are objects that are used to hold a door open. They provide a practical solution to prevent both walls and doors from being damaged as it acts as a buffer, saving you from any repair work. They are normally made from aluminium, PVC (synthetic thermoplastic), rubber, steel (brass, aluminium, chrome) and stainless steel. Used in the home and across industries such as medical and automotive industries, warehouses and distribution centres where there is a high volume traffic going through doors.
How does a door stop work?
Depending on the style of door stop, it can work in different ways. To prevent doors from opening too far and damaging nearby walls, a rubber dome or a block of rubber-tipped metal is attached to the wall or the floor in the path of the door. Door stops that are attached to the wall are usually a few inches above the ground. The rubber dome or cylinder type door stops are sometimes known as a wall bumper.
