Product Details
3M 78 Series 2.54 x 2.54mm PCB IDC Transition Ribbon Cable Connector
78 Series 2.54 x 2.54mm PCB mount two row IDC ribbon cable transition connectors that allow ribbon cable connection to a PCB without the need for two connectors thus reducing costs. These 78 Series PCB IDC transition connectors have a 7.3mm terminated height for low profile off the board applications, solder bumps built into the housings that facilitate board cleaning and fit a standard 2.54 x 2.54mm header layout.
3M Insulation Displacement Connector, 20 Way, 2 Rows - 78XX Series - 7820-0000PR
Quickly connect multiple network cables to a PCB (printed circuit board) with this insulation displacement connector (IDC) from 3M. It uses pressure-based cold-weld technology, which means the results are highly durable and make for long-lasting performance. The compact component allows up to 20 ribbon conductors to be connected to a single termination point. It takes up minimal space on a circuit board, making it a versatile choice for your networking and data applications. Thanks to its UL94V-0 rating from Underwriters' Laboratories, you can be sure the connector will self-extinguish in the event of a fire – ideal for ensuring workplace safety.
Features and Benefits
Low termination height of 7.3mm for low-profile, off-the-board applications Built-in solder bumps help to keep your PCB clean when connecting the IDC Compliant with RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) standards, meaning it contains only negligible amounts of any harmful materials Glass-filled polyester insulation material for resistance to impact and corrosion in harsh environments
Applications
Data networks Transportation applications Telecommunications systems
What is cold-welding technology?
Cold-welding uses pressure, rather than heat, to join two pieces of metal together. This means there's a low risk of negative chemical or mechanical changes to the base metals being joined together. The process results in a strong, clean join that lasts a long time.
