Frequently asked questions

Who was the first XLR inventor?

James H. Cannon invented the first XLR Connector in Los Angeles in 1950s.

How to clean XLR Connectors safely and correctly?

The tolerance to dirt or contamination for XLR Connectors are extremely low. Therefore, to keep it free from dust, it is vital to use the appropriate equipment. We are recommending our own branded RS PRO electrical contact cleaning equipment 917-5914 or 554-298.

It is not a good practice using swabs or cloths as they leave threads behind meaning decreasing contact performance and lifetime.

What is the difference between Male and Female Connectors?

A Male Connector has solid pins (usually between three to seven pins) whereas Female Connector has central conductor with a-holes.
