3M Cubitron™ II 984F Cloth Sanding Belts
Brought to you by 3M™, the Cubitron™ II 984F cloth sanding belt offers revolutionary performance when used with equipment such as backstands, file belt sanders, inline sanders and stroke sanders. The belt features precision-shaped abrasive grain coating on a X-weight, poly-cotton backing, and is resin-bonded for heat resistance.
Suitable for dry applications, the 3M™ Cubitron™ ll Cloth Belt 947A assures outstanding results whether used for high-pressure, automated grinding to low or medium pressure offhand operations.
The Precision Shaped Grain forms into triangular points that slice through metal rather than gouging or ploughing like traditional abrasives. These points continuously self-sharpen as they fracture, generating an extremely fast cut with less heat build-up reducing heat-related stress cracks and discoloration. The abrasive produces a uniform finish over its life and helps eliminate burning during end-grain sanding applications. The X-weight cloth backing provides durability and has the mineral is resin bonded to it for reliable performance, even under high heat and pressure.

Applications
Commonly called sanding belts, abrasive bels are used with belt sanders for heavy-duty sanding applications. Belt sanders are used for smoothing certain surfaces or removing paint or varnish. They are suited to heavy-duty applications, or applications where a level of uniformity is required that can't be guaranteed by hand sanding techniques using conventional sandpaper. This belt is particularly suited for use on stainless steel and metal allows for metalworking processes such as deburring and blending.
They are commonly used for;
• Dimensioning parts and metal sheets
• Removing material and wields
• Setting grain in stainless steel
What are the advantages of belt sanders?
Belt sanders, or strip sanders, are typically portable handheld machines used for running across surfaces that need to be sanded. Wherever a large surface needs to be covered or a large amount of material needs to be removed, belt sanders can save a huge amount of time and physical effort compared to hand sanding. However, they are by design a powerful and aggressive machine, and the portable versions are not so suited to delicate work as other means of sanding.
Belt sanders can also be static backstand belt sander machines designed to have objects maneuvered against the sanding belt for finer sanding applications, This allows a greater degree of manipulative control, and is ideal for finishing and detail work.
Why choose 3M?
3M is a leading innovator of abrasive technologies, constantly evolving to provide ideal solutions to industrial and commercial applications. With 3M you can be assured of a wide selection of quality products.
3M abrasive sanding belts come in a variety of widths and sizes to fit almost any industrial belt sander. Narrow belts are used with portable belt sanders for grinding or blending. Medium belts are used on backstands to remove wields, material removal and to set the grain in stainless steel while wider belts are used with wide belt sanders to dimension metal sheets and coils.
