RS Pro Insulated Crimp Ring Terminals

RS Pro range of insulated crimp ring wire terminals made from copper with a tin plating. These ring terminals have vinyl or nylon insulation with a flared design for easy wire insertion. The insulation of these crimp ring terminals is colour coded to correspond with the wire size they are used with. All models are highly reliable and excellent quality.

Features & Benefits

Various metric sizes available

Available in Red, Yellow and Blue

Each colour corresponds to different wire sizes

Features and Benefits:

• Copper body material for high conductivity and easy crimping
• Tin plating for resistance to corrosion, added strength and excellent conductivity
• Vinyl insulation for electrical insulation and terminal protection
• Colour coded insulation for easy identification of terminal size
• Expanded insulation entry for easy wire insertion

Typical Applications:

These insulated crimp ring wire connectors are used in a wide range of industries for connecting wires to electrical components. Applications include wiring in industrial control systems and industrial machines, automotive applications, communication equipment, power supplies and domestic appliances.

Selecting the Correct Ring Terminal Size

When selecting the right ring terminal for your application, you should consider the following:

• The wire gauge mm (metric) or AWG (American Wire Gauge) of the wire or cable you are using
• The stud size to which you will be connecting the ring terminal.
• The inner diameter of the ring terminal

Wire sizes:
Red 0.5-1.5mm²
Blue 1.5-2.5mm²
Yellow 4-6mm²

FAQs

How do you Crimp a Ring Terminal
Firstly, select the correct sized ring terminal. Strip the end of the wire and cut it to the same length as terminal. Insert the wire into the terminal barrel making sure no bare wire is visible. The crimp terminal is then ready to be crimped on to the end of the wire. When crimping a wire terminal, pliers or a ratchet can be used but, for a better quality crimp, it is better to use a ratchet crimping tool. A ratchet crimping tool is preferable as the handles will remain locked until a full crimp cycle is completed which will prevent partial crimps. Insert the barrel of the ring terminal into the appropriate crimping section (indicated by sizes marked on the tool). Squeeze the tool handles together until the ratchet releases. The crimped ring terminal can now be placed over the stud or post and secured in place with a nut or by soldering.
